[Video] How Rye Termination Timing Affects Weed Control in Strip-Till Systems

May 8, 2025

Daniel H. Smith, nutrient and pest management program manager for the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison, checks in from the Lancaster Agricultural Research station with details on a 6-year study exploring a systems-based approach to weed management using cereal rye in corn-soybean rotations. During his upcoming presentation, “Crushing Herbicide-Resistant Weeds with Cover Crops,” at the 2025 National Strip-Tillage Conference, Smith will break down the numbers in detail to convey how various tillage and termination dates impact weed suppression and ultimately yield.

The 2025 National Strip-Tillage Conference takes place July 31-Aug. 1 in Iowa City. Head to StripTillConference.com for more information and to reserve your spot!
