Two Thai farmers traveled across the world to learn more about the conservation tillage practices in use in North America and put their newfound knowledge to use back at home.

Strip-till provides a logical solution for South African farmers who want to trim input costs and protect their soils. 

Building soil health is a long-term endeavor, but one with lasting impacts. There are many practices that yield great short-term benefits. But if it’s not good for the soil, it won’t be good for the farming enterprise in the long run.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a farmer say they wanted more on-farm government intrusion. Practice mandates generally aren’t welcome amongst the individualistic, entrepreneurial types who gravitate to farming, though some mandates have seen positive outcomes over time. Improvements in the Chesapeake Bay come to mind, though the improvements have taken awhile and are incremental.

I like to think of strip-tillers in this context — creative adaptors who are receptive to change and always looking to improve their recipe for success.
