With no labor deal in sight, the agricultural industry is rushing headlong into economic straits due to the International Longshoremen’s Association port strike that began Tuesday, and the effects could be felt across the farming landscape from delayed exports of grain to certain markets and delayed import of inputs, equipment and other items.

BASF has submitted a proposed label for its dicamba product, Engenia, to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for registration after the label was vacated earlier this year.

Iowa strip-tiller Wayne Fredericks, known for conservation leadership in the soybean industry, died Feb. 7 after a long battle with cancer.

For now, the agency is focused on double-crop soybeans and double-crop sorghum, though they are examining the possibility of additional other crops at some point in the future.
