A wide range of implements, from specialized tools to fertilizer applicators and subsoilers, are used with strip-tillage. Besides loosening the soil for seedbed conditioning and managing crop residue, strip-till typically involves the injection of fertilizer below the soil surface.

Mark Hanna will help you understand how steel shanks, coulters, discs and other equipment interact to manipulate soil and crop residue and inject fertilizer so you can decide how to select and set up equipment, or determine if certain equipment is appropriate for the task at hand. The Iowa State University ag engineer will provide details on best practices for creating seedbeds ideal for planters, fertilizer placement, tillage depth and comparing fall vs. spring strip-till practices.
