Georgia Strip-Till Family Recognized as Conservationist of the Year

Summerlin & Sons Farms took home Colquitt County’s Conservationist of the Year award in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family started strip-tilling in 2010. They also plant cover crops to help reduce soil erosion and compaction. “The Summerlins believe it is extremely important to be good stewards of the land — to maintain and preserve the land for future generations,” the Middle South Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District said in a press release.
