Agri-Pulse reported the Trump administration may spend billions of dollars to invest infrastructure and reshore fertilizer production back into America, citing Rollins’ comments during a recent House Appropriations subcommittee budget hearing.

Some conservation groups are angered by a preliminary budget document released that slashes the budget for NRCS technical assistance for farmers.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry released legislative text for the budget reconciliation package that the committee says will “rein in runaway spending” in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and promote an invest in “rural America and America’s farm families.”

With an industry that is seemingly on the brink of a crisis, a coalition of more than 400 of U.S. farm, agricultural and grower groups sent a letter to Washington imploring Senate members to confirm Brooke Rollins as the next USDA secretary.
