Several people have submitted images of escaped "pigweeds" wondering whether the plants were Palmer amaranth. In all cases, except the earlier reported situation in Harrison County, the plants in question have been waterhemp, although at casual glance they could easily be mistaken for Palmer amaranth.

Palmer amaranth has been increasing around the Midwest and CREP seedings can apparently be one source of new infestations.

With glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth (pigweed) rapidly spreading north and glyphosate-resistant waterhemp wreaking havoc on many acres across the Midwest, retailers and growers alike are looking for weed-management solutions.
