Advanced technologies are reshaping the farming industry and in many respects, it’s a race among manufacturers, developers and engineers to refine the performance of the next-generation tools to be field-ready.

So who is leading the pack and how close are we to having some of the more futuristic technologies become reality?

At the 2019 Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference in Louisville, I had the chance to sit down with Dr. Alex Thomasson, professor with the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering with Texas A&M University to evaluate the current and future landscape of precision technology.

In today’s Strip-Till Farmer podcast, we share excerpts from my conversation with Alex on which equipment manufacturers are ahead of the innovation game, some of the existing obstacles to advancing autonomous vehicles and the key role broadband expansion will play in rural availability of telematic connections.
