According to the last USDA crop progress report, 48% of soybeans are blooming, in addition to 29% of corn silking in the week ending July 12, 2020.

The 29% of corn silking comes in ahead of the 14% reported silking this time last year, but below the 5 year average of 32%. North Carolina showed the most corn silking (86% of its crop), followed by Texas at 82%.

This was the first report to track corn dough, which came in at 3%. This was above the 2% report in the same week last year, and in line with the 5 year average of 3%. Texas reported the most corn dough at 60%. Corn crop condition remained mostly unchanged from last week, with corn crops reported in "good" condition moving from 54% last week to 52% this week.

Soybean blooming came in at 48%, higher than 19% in the same week last year and the 5 year average of 40%. Louisiana reported nearly all its soybeans blooming at 91%. The report showed 11% of soybean crops setting pods, surpassing the 2% reported setting pods this time last year and the 5 year average of 10%. Soybean crop condition was the nearly the same as the previous week, with soybean "good" condition crops moving from 57% in the previous week to 54%.
