Heavy Rains Bring Challenges for Strip-Tiller
Redwood Falls, Minn., strip-tiller Matt Tiffany says it’s been a challenging spring. “We started dry, but the optimism for an early planting ended about April 25,” he tells Tri-State Neighbor. “It was interesting to see the temperature differences in the cleaned strip versus between the strip, and I felt confident that my fall fertilizer applicator with the row cleaners was worth the effort. The tilled strips were slightly warmer than the cleaned no-till strips, but both were 4-7 degrees warmer than the areas between them.”

Massive Strip-Till Trial Underway at University of Illinois
Research specialists Connor Sible and Jared Fender check in from the University of Illinois test plots, where Fender is conducting a first-of-its-kind strip-trial focusing on fertilizer placement, timing and more. Fender will present his findings for the first time at the 2024 National Strip-Tillage Conference, Aug. 8-9 in Madison, Wis. Reserve your spot for Fender’s classroom at StripTillConference.com!
@jfender7710 didn’t blink twice when I said I wanted to work wheat into the research program where we’re already managing corn and soybeans. Catch him speaking at strip-till this fall in Madison! https://t.co/dJr1pKd1Tv
