Strip-Till Bar Draws Machinery Pete’s Attention

Strip-Tiller Deals with Challenging Conditions Early in #Plant25
Christian County, Illinois, strip-tiller Ken Franklin says he’s off to a good start in #Plant25, despite some challenging weather conditions. “The wind has blown it seems like every day, way above the threshold for spraying,” Franklin tells Brownfield Ag News. “We try to sneak in whenever we can, or catch those calm days, stop the planter and hop in the sprayer. This year with spraying you’ve kind of had to do it whenever you had the chance, not necessarily when you wanted.
Custom Strip-Till Rates Check in at $30.99 Per Acre in Wisconsin Survey
Wisconsin State Farmer breaks down results from the inaugural Univ. of Wisconsin Extension Custom Rate Survey. The average custom rate for strip-till in Wisconsin is $30.99 per acre, while the custom rate for drilling no-till soybeans is $23.31 per acre.
‘6th Gen Farmer’ Giving Strip-Till & Cover Crops a Try
Fast forward to the 7:45 mark, in the fall of 2025, he has a cost-share contract signed with Minnesota for next 3 years to do strip-till, no-till or cover crops. Doesn’t know if he’s going to buy a strip-till bar….demo one…or hire co-op to do it.
