First fruits of a “multi-million” dollar, multi-year contract for the track systems arm of Soucy Group have been revealed in the form of a new track assembly for John Deere combines. 

The “triangular” design is interchangeable with wheels, incorporates suspension for a more comfortable ride both in-field and on the road. And thanks to the structure, materials and rubber compounds used for the traction belt, is capable of sustained road travel at up to 25 mph. 

“This is good news for Soucy and for our community since this contract will create more than 60 positions in production in several of our subsidiaries,” notes André Todd, general manager at Soucy International.

The track system developed with John Deere is available with 24 inch and 30 inch wide belts but is said to plant a 30% larger footprint on the ground than other systems thanks to its long contact patch. Between the two idlers are three rollers, all pivoting and arranged in a way that creates five pivot points in all so that the belt can “climb” over undulations in the field surface. 

The contract announcement coincides with Case IH accepting Soucy’s new 18 inch Ace Track traction belt as an optional factory model for Rowtrac versions of the Steiger and Magnum tractors in North America and Australia.
