Strip-Till on Pace to Become “Predominant Tillage Program” in Minnesota

Warren Formo, executive director the Minnesota Agricultural Resource Center, has noticed a growing interest in strip-till in his state. In fact, he believes it could soon become the system of choice for most farmers in Minnesota. “Estimates suggest that strip-till acreage is growing at more than 5% per year and is on pace to become the predominant tillage system in Minnesota in the next two or three years,” he says in this FarmProgress article.

Soybean Record-Breaker Humbled by 206-Bushel Yield

Smithville, Ga., strip-tiller Alex Harrell shares his thoughts on the news of his record-breaking soybean yield of 206 bushels per acre. Harrell used a Schlagel Rapid-Till strip-till machine, cover crops and spraying drones to keep his crop “pumped up” during the growing season.


Strip-Till Pays Off for Irrigated Seed Canola in Canada

Check out this feature story on John Kolk, one of a handful of farmers using strip-till in southern Alberta. “Between spring cover crops and strip-till, I think you are going to see more strip-till in the irrigation area. I think it’s an option that works. It takes a little bit of time, it takes investment, but you got to keep investing to figure out what you are going to do next and do it well,” he says.

New Strip-Till Equipment Introduced at Farm Progress Show

Strip-till was hot at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill., last week. Several companies introduced new equipment, including the Fast DuraPlacer strip-till toolbar from Yetter and Fast Ag Solutions.
