Equipment in Demand for Custom Strip-Till Business
Here’s another update on a busy summer for Wyndmere, N.D., strip-tiller Carson Klosterman. Business is booming for his StripTillForYou company, as his team is getting ready for a jam-packed fall. “We have been assembling a lot of strip-till machines. We received more requests from customers, and we need to have more inventory on hand,” Klosterman tells Farm & Ranch Guide. “We’ve assembled some Yetter strip fresheners, Dawn Pluribus strip-till bars, an interseeder and a Montag fertilizer cart. The days go by quick when you have a lot going on, and we have been busy in the shop.”
Strip-Tiller Tired of 'Being Poster Boy for Stewardship'
Here’s an interesting read from Art Cullen at the Storm Lake Times Pilot. Cullen says local strip-tiller Matt Bormann is growing frustrated with state leaders and politicians and feels “used and abused as a model for stewardship by an ag establishment that doesn’t want to invest in comprehensive conservation.” “I’ve been paraded around as the poster boy and I’m sick of it,” Bormann says. “Every neighbor around is not strip-tilling. They’re all doing what they’ve always done. So, I ask, what are we doing?”
Where’s the Best Placement for Nutrients in a Strip-Till System?
Brian and Darren Hefty have some disagreements about the best way to place nutrients in a strip-till system. Darren makes his case in this AgPhD YouTube short.
Solving Long-Term No-Till Compaction Issues with Strip-Till
Here’s an interesting strip-till related post we came across on X. Travis Messer, precision ag specialist and agronomist at Plains Grain and Agronomy in North Dakota, is attempting to solve compaction and low pH issues from long-term no-till with strip-till.
Well we have a few fields that we have been struggling with low ph and compaction from long term no till . Strip till has been helping the corn and liming has been a band aid for $100 an acre for other crops in the rotation. PH problem is in the top 4” so here we go ! #tillage pic.twitter.com/Soj49FkUWY

How a Small Mindset Shift Can Reshape an Entire Farm
South Dakota grower Cody Merrigan has seen firsthand how one small mindset shift can reshape an entire operation. What began as curiosity about conservation practices grew into a system blending row crops, stocker cattle and year-round living roots. Check out this YouTube Short to learn more.
