Illinois Shares New Insights from Strip-Till Fertility Trials

: The Univ. of Illinois hosted its annual Crop Physiology Day last week in Champaign-Urbana. Fred Below’s team of researchers updated attendees on key findings from various trials. Jared Fender, who’s leading the charge on the university’s massive strip-till fertility trial, shares some key updates during this information-packed presentation.

The 13th annual National Strip-Tillage Conference took place last week in downtown Springfield, Ill. Univ. of Minnesota Hosting Strip-Till Event

Growers interested in getting an up-close look at strip-till equipment should check out the upcoming Univ. of Minnesota Extension Strip-Till Expo, Sept. 9 in Lamberton, Minn. Ohio Farmer Juggles Strip-Till & Organic Practices

The Ohio Country Journal takes us inside Shane Meyer’s operation in Henry County, Ohio, where he was an early adopter of strip-till. Today, roughly 120 acres of Meyer’s 550-acre operation are certified organic, with another 40 acres in transition. Meyer discusses the challenges of going organic while maintaining conservation practices like strip-till and cover crops on many of his fields.

Over 40 Farmers Participate in Soil Health Bus Tour

Over 40 farmers from Minnesota traveled in style to the National Strip-Tillage Conference last week as part of the Southeast Minnesota Soil Health Bus Tour, organized by the Rice and Steele Soil and Water Conservation Districts. We’re told they left Minnesota around 5 a.m. on Wednesday and arrived at Bayer Crop Science Research farm for the pre-conference workshop around 1:30 p.m.
