Strip-Till Draws Interest at Big Iron Farm Show
On the latest installment of “Keeping up with the Klostermans,” as I like to call it, Carson Klosterman and his team fielded questions about strip-till at the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show in West Fargo. Meanwhile back at the farm, the custom strip-till business owner also had his hands full with sunflowers, soybeans and sugar beets. Read more about Klosterman’s early fall odyssey in this feature from Farm & Ranch Guide.
Hailstorm Impact Strip-Tillers’ Soybean Harvest
Luverne, Minn., strip-tillers Shawn and Becky Feikema’s harvest season got off to a challenging start with an unexpected hailstorm. “Several of our soybean fields were hit, and so we are noticing a 10-plus bushel per acre loss on some fields,” they say. On the flipside, early corn yield estimates are almost “too high,” the Feikemas say. They’re waiting for corn to hit the 30% moisture level before firing up the combine. Read more about their approach to harvest in this Tri-State Neighbor feature.
‘How Do You Not Love Wheat Harvest?’
Let’s check in with our friend Jon Stevens, who welcomes us inside the cab for wheat harvest in Rock Creek, Minn. The strip-tiller says it’s only his third time harvesting wheat with his new combine. “The combine handles wheat very well and wheat in general is just so nice to come by compared to soybeans in our area,” Stevens says.
Illinois Strip-Tiller Makes Final Preparations for Harvest
Here’s another fun video from Westin Arseneau, aka Wes Farms, in Iroquois County, Ill. The strip-tiller takes us behind the scenes at his farm as he makes final preparations for harvest.
