Shortline companies have been instrumental in the advancement of strip-till, but Richard Follmer worries that some companies — specifically in the strip-till industry — have lost sight of the farmer’s goal to save money, not spend more.

"It's not only about facts," says Chuck White, who retired from his service on the ISA board of directors in 2024. "It's about how we as farmers and our farm families are invested in this land. We live here, we work here, and we want to have a safe environment and a very productive farm for the future that's sustainable."

The Strip-Till Farmer crew racked up nearly 100,000 steps combined Tuesday and Wednesday at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill., tracking down new equipment innovations.

“Carbon is the energy that drives the entire process,” Jerry Hatfield said during his 2025 NSTC presentation. “Carbon is the energy piece to this puzzle. It’s the currency for changing soils.”

Two never-before-seen tools were on display at the 2025 National Strip-Tillage Conference in Iowa City last week.

Nearly 400 farmers, agronomists, researchers, educators, dealers and manufacturers from all over the U.S. and other countries including Canada and Ireland, packed the Hyatt Regency in Coralville, Iowa for the 12^th annual National Strip-Tillage Conference July 31-Aug. 1.
